Updated: Jul 16

Renting a car in Phuket was one of the best travel decisions I made! As a solo female traveler, I wanted freedom, safety, and convenience—and HAUP's car rental service delivered all three.

Easy Booking Process

Booking was incredibly straightforward. All I needed was my passport and my international driver's license. I completed my payment online using my credit card. HAUP accepts various payment methods, including Visa, MasterCard, JCB, UnionPay, Alipay, WeChat Pay, and Thai QR PromptPay.

The best part? HAUP picked me up at Phuket Airport and shuttled me to their nearby car park. From there, my adventure in Phuket began!

Exploring Phuket

  • Phuket Old Town: A Colorful Heritage Walk

  • Promthep Cape: The Best Sunset in Phuket

  • Samkong Ice Cream: Local Sweet Treats

  • Holiday Inn Resort Patong: Beachside Relaxation

1. Strolling Through Phuket Old Town

Google Maps: Phuket Old Town

Phuket Old Town is a charming area filled with colorful Sino-Portuguese buildings, local cafes, and Sunday street markets. I parked my rental car with ease and spent the morning capturing photos of the vibrant street art, sipping iced Thai tea, and picking up unique souvenirs. Renting a car allowed me the flexibility to arrive early, avoiding the crowds and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere fully.

No trip to Phuket is complete without witnessing the sunset at Promthep Cape. Driving there with my rental car was easy. I arrived just in time to watch the sky transform into brilliant shades of orange and pink. The drive itself is one of the most scenic in Thailand, lined with palm trees and stunning ocean views.

3. Local Flavors at Samkong Ice Cream

I stumbled upon Samkong Ice Cream, a popular spot for traditional Thai-style ice cream. The ice cream comes with toppings like sweet sticky rice, peanuts, and red beans. This easy stop was a delicious treat, and having my own car made the visit seamless. It’s a must for any foodie exploring Phuket!

I booked a night at the Holiday Inn Resort Patong Beach. It is a beachfront property featuring pools, comfy beds, and excellent service. There's parking available on-site, making it a relaxing spot to unwind after days of exploration. With a car, I could easily check out nearby restaurants and enjoy the nightlife at my own pace.

Patong Beach is undoubtedly Phuket’s most famous beach—and for good reason. With my rental car, I could arrive early enough to find convenient parking and secure a quiet spot on the sand before others arrived. I spent the afternoon swimming, sunbathing, and watching parasailers soar above. The beachfront is brimming with restaurants, shops, and vibrant beach bars, making it easy to explore at my own pace.
